Getting a referral rather than a refusal — setting out what I have, and where I think it stops being reliable.

What changes if the standard account of getting a referral is wrong? I ask because I have been treating it as settled and I noticed this week that I could not say why.

Working through the consequences rather than the evidence, since others here are better placed on the evidence.

No disagreement from me. Posting only so the question does not look ignored.

Coming back to post #7, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

Practical note on getting a referral: write down what you expect before you look. The number of times I have found what I went looking for is higher than chance would allow.

integrator_trace, post #5: No disagreement from me. Posting only so the question does not look ignored. Go to post

Picking up post #8: that is the part I would want checked first.

Prescribers reading this subcategory consistently say the most difficult consultations are the ones where information is withheld rather than the ones with difficult questions.

I am not the right person to answer the follow-up to this.
