What changes if the standard account of Irish differences is wrong? I ask because I have been treating it as settled and I noticed this week that I could not say why.
Working through the consequences rather than the evidence, since others here are better placed on the evidence.

I keep a log for Irish differences specifically because my memory of it turned out to be systematically wrong in one direction. Six weeks of notes cost nothing and settled it.

For anyone finding this later: the short answer on Irish differences is that it depends on one thing, and the rest of the thread is people identifying which thing.
Waiting times are the most variable and least generalisable thing reported here, and they are worth posting anyway with a region and a date.

Pharmacy practice varies between pharmacies and is not deducible from the regulatory position. Two people can honestly report opposite experiences.

Private prescribing arrangements differ in what they include, and the differences are more consequential than the headline price.
Not the whole picture, but the part of it I can speak to.
Picking up post #9: that is the part I would want checked first.
My understanding of Irish differences is a few years old and may have been superseded. If it has been, I would genuinely like to know rather than keep repeating it.
Supply and shortage resilience: both UK and Ireland sourced primarily from European suppliers until recent disruptions. Domestic availability and pricing changed.
It is worth stating the boring hypothesis before the interesting one.
Adding what did not work for me on Irish differences, since the failures never get written up and they are half the useful information.
