On the subject in the title: Personal import allowances, compared Working notes rather than a conclusion.

I have spent a fortnight trying to pin personal import allowances down and I want to set out where I have got to, because I suspect the honest answer is duller than the thread this will produce.

What I have: a consistent observation across a small number of cases, collected the same way each time. What I do not have: any controlled comparison, or any reason to think my cases are representative.

The specific question is whether the pattern survives once the obvious confounder is removed. I cannot remove it with what I have.

A definition problem is doing most of the work in this personal import allowances discussion. Once the term is pinned down I suspect the disagreement mostly goes away and what is left is small.

What I would check first on personal import allowances is whether the thing being measured moved or whether the way of measuring it moved. Those look identical in a graph.

On the opening post — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Nothing here is legal advice, and in this subcategory that caveat is doing real work rather than sitting decoratively at the end.

Import rules for personal use: what you can import for personal use depends on your country's rules, not on where it is sold. Checking your country's rules before ordering is prudent.

I keep a log of this specifically because memory is unreliable about it.

Import rules for personal quantities are jurisdiction-specific and change without much publicity. Establishing your own position is unavoidable.

Worth separating two things that post #4 runs together.

On personal import allowances, I would rather understate and be corrected upward than overstate and be quoted. That is a house style here and it is a good one.

Country-by-country legality: compound approval and legal status differ substantially by jurisdiction. Semaglutide approved in the United States and European Union; tirzepatide approved in some but not all; retatrutide approved nowhere yet (ongoing trials).
