Temperature indicator cards: worth asking for? I have a specific reason for asking rather than idle curiosity, and the context is below.
Asking about Temperature indicator cards on behalf of the question I keep seeing asked badly, including by me.
Framed properly it is answerable. Framed the usual way it is not, and that is most of why the previous threads went nowhere.

At what point is a parcel genuinely a problem: if it was despatched weeks ago and there has been no update for days at customs, it might be held or lost. Days of delay at customs without update is ordinary; weeks without movement warrants inquiry.

Where a supplier reships after a documented failure without argument, that is commercially costly and worth recording alongside everything else.
That is the honest state of it as of this week.

Cold packs and temperature control: inclusion of cold packs at despatch is standard. Whether they maintain temperature through transit depends on journey duration and ambient temperature. Long journeys through warm climates put product at risk.
The reasoning is more useful than the number, which is why I have shown it.
Peak periods and public holidays affect this more than any other factor and are entirely predictable in advance.
The general answer and the answer for your case may diverge here.
Coming back to post #12, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.
A definition problem is doing most of the work in this Temperature indicator cards discussion. Once the term is pinned down I suspect the disagreement mostly goes away and what is left is small.
Notice of a delay before the quoted window elapses is a materially different service experience from notice afterwards, and it is worth recording which happened.

The reasoning depends on an assumption that is doing a lot of work and is never stated. If the assumption holds, the conclusion follows. I do not think it holds generally.
Source for the Temperature indicator cards figure, since it was asked for. It is in the discussion rather than the abstract, which is why the version circulating is stronger than the paper is.
Reading the surrounding paragraph is worth the two minutes. The authors are more careful than their summarisers.
Delivery to an address where somebody is present is worth more for cold-chain material than any packing decision available to the supplier.
I would put the burden of proof on the interesting explanation, not the dull one.
