Domestic fridge temperature mapping: a cheap experiment — what changed since — setting out what I have, and where I think it stops being reliable.

I have read the maintained page on this and I still have a gap, so I am asking rather than guessing.

Context: tirzepatide, 14 weeks in, currently at a dose I reached by the standard four-week steps. Everything below is my own record rather than anything a clinician told me.

The specific question is the one in the title. What I have already checked: the labelling summary on the relevant documentation page, the two most-linked topics in this subcategory, and my own notes from the last 12 weeks. What I could not find is whether the answer changes at higher doses or whether it is the same arithmetic throughout.

If the answer is "it depends", I would rather know what it depends on than be given a number.

Temperature excursions: brief excursions above 8 °C are tolerable for most compounds. Hours to a day at room temperature is usually acceptable. Days to weeks at room temperature risks degradation.

post #3 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.

Shipping container and cold packs: reputable suppliers use insulated containers with cold packs designed to arrive cool. Checking on arrival that cold packs are still cold is a sign the chain was maintained.

Assessing an excursion: if a package sat at room temperature for a time, visual inspection (cloudiness, discoloration, particles) can alert you to problems. Not visible does not mean not damaged, but visible problems are a reason to contact the supplier.

Temperature logging: devices that record temperature over time let you confirm cold chain was maintained. Useful if a shipment was delayed or if you are concerned about excursion.

On post #3 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Travel with medication: carrying a vial across borders requires planning if temperatures will exceed the range or if journey time is long. Insulated travel cases with ice packs are common solutions.

I disagree with the reply above, and I think the disagreement is substantive rather than terminological.

The distinction being drawn does not survive when you look at the published data for this specific question. I would be glad to be shown wrong on this, because the version I am arguing against is more convenient.

Reconstituted solutions: once reconstituted, solutions are less stable than lyophilised powder. Refrigerate prepared solutions immediately after preparation. Most stability claims assume refrigeration.

Light protection: avoid direct sunlight and UV exposure. Amber vials or opaque containers reduce light exposure. For short-term storage, keeping the vial in its original packaging (often opaque) usually suffices.

I read post #10 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

Domestic refrigeration: most lyophilised peptides are stored at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F). That is standard refrigerator temperature. Check your refrigerator's actual temperature; some are warmer than the label.

Freeze-thaw: some peptides tolerate freezing; others do not. Check your compound's labelling. Generally, repeated freeze-thaw is worse than single freeze-thaw.

Worth separating two things that post #19 runs together.

Thank you for the correction. I have edited my earlier post with a note rather than silently, so the thread still makes sense to read. The error was mine and it was the kind that comes from remembering a figure instead of looking it up.
