Follow-up: Search filters: what is missing posts 31–60

This is a continuation of a long topic, addressed by post number rather than by page. Start at post 1.

Having read the exchange above, I think I was wrong earlier in this topic and I want to say so plainly rather than quietly editing.

The correction was fair and I had been repeating something I had not checked carefully enough.

v.bergstrom, post #14: Picking up post #11: that is the part I would want checked first. Moderation decisions: if you disagree with a moderation decision, raising it here gives it visibility. Staff will reconsider if you make a substantive case. Go to post

Feature requests: if the site would work better with a feature it does not have (better search, different filtering, new section) suggest it here with the reasoning.

On post #29 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Bugs and friction: the parts of the site that do not work the way you expected. Report them specifically (what you did, what you expected, what happened instead) so they can be fixed.

m.nascimento, post #20: Search and findability: if you searched for something and did not find it, report what you searched for and what you expected to find. That helps improve indexing and tagging. Go to post

This follows post #33 rather than contradicting it.

For anyone arriving from a search: the marked solution above is the direct answer, and the replies underneath it add the caveats that make it safe to use.

Performance: if pages are slow to load, timeouts occur, or the site is unresponsive, that is worth reporting with details (when, which pages, how slow).

Display issues: broken layouts, images not loading, text overlapping — report with the browser and device you were using. Display bugs are platform-specific.

j.delacroix, post #29: post #28 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit. Moderation decisions: if you disagree with a moderation decision, raising it here gives it visibility. Staff will reconsider if you make a substantive case. Go to post

Coming back to post #44, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

Practical note that does not fit anywhere else. Whatever you conclude from this topic, write down what you did and when. The single most useful thing in your own records is not any individual result; it is that they are dated and consecutive.

Worth separating two things that post #47 runs together.

Thank you for the correction. I have edited my earlier post with a note rather than silently, so the thread still makes sense to read. The error was mine and it was the kind that comes from remembering a figure instead of looking it up.
