How this community escalates rather than diagnoses

Solved
Solved by CSagredo in post #4
Research-use-only material carries no safety surveillance of any kind, which is a reason for more caution rather than less.

How this community escalates rather than diagnoses — that is the question, and I have not found it answered plainly anywhere I have looked.

Community escalates, and specifically the version of it that the documentation does not cover. The maintained page handles the general case well and stops exactly where my question starts.

Setting out the gap in case it is a gap in the page rather than a gap in what is known.

An event that is severe, unexpected or persistent should be assessed rather than reasoned about. The asymmetry between the cost of being checked and the cost of being wrong is the whole basis of that.

The reasoning is more useful than the number, which is why I have shown it.

That is clearer than the version I had in my head. Thank you.

Post #4 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.

Where a member describes something concerning, escalating the thread rather than continuing it is a moderation practice rather than a dismissal.
