Temperature loggers worth the money — setting out what I have, and where I think it stops being reliable.

Reporting something rather than asking about it, in case the pattern is useful to anyone else.

Over 10 weeks I logged this consistently: date, dose, time of day, and a simple severity score from 0 to 4 for each symptom. That is 186 data points, all self-reported, all unblinded, and collected by someone who knew what he expected to find. Treat it accordingly.

The reason I am posting is that my experience does not match the shape people usually describe here, and I would like to know whether that is unusual or whether the usual description is just the loudest version.

I read post #7 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

Two things before anyone answers the substance.

First, the context in the first post is clear and specific. Second, the question is framed so that an answer can actually address it. Both are the norm here and both matter more than they sound.

IMainwaring, post #6: Picking up post #3: that is the part I would want checked first. Shipping container and cold packs: reputable suppliers use insulated containers with cold packs designed to arrive cool. Checking on arrival that cold packs are still cold is a sign the chain was maintained. Go to post

For anyone arriving from a search: the marked solution above is the direct answer, and the replies underneath it add the caveats that make it safe to use.

post #30 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different.

Temperature logging: devices that record temperature over time let you confirm cold chain was maintained. Useful if a shipment was delayed or if you are concerned about excursion.

post #41 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different.

Temperature excursions: brief excursions above 8 °C are tolerable for most compounds. Hours to a day at room temperature is usually acceptable. Days to weeks at room temperature risks degradation.

r.restrepo, post #41: Freeze-thaw: some peptides tolerate freezing; others do not. Check your compound's labelling. Generally, repeated freeze-thaw is worse than single freeze-thaw. Go to post

Practical note that does not fit anywhere else. Whatever you conclude from this topic, write down what you did and when. The single most useful thing in your own records is not any individual result; it is that they are dated and consecutive.
